Ladies Football

Ladies Football in Carrick-on-Shannon is going from strength to strength. In 2004 our Senior girls narrowly lost the Connaught Senior B title to Summerhill of Athlone in an enthralling encounter. Two years later both the Junior and Senior Girls contested Connaught C finals, and again lost narrowly to Dunmore Community School and St. Bridget’s Tuam respectively. Each of those teams went on to win All-Ireland Titles that year.

Also in 2006, and again in 2007, our first year girls reached the quarter final stage of the Connaught Championship. These teams have been very successful in local competitions, including our own second year 11-a-side Roscommon-Leitrim Blitz which is now in its third year. We must not forget to pay tribute to our 2 representatives on the all-Ireland winning Leitrim Ladies squad, Sinead McWeeney and Sarah McManus.
