3rd Year Student Learning Review

The 3rd Year Student Learning Review will take place in the school on Thursday, 24th October 2024 from 4.15pm to 6.45pm. Classes will finish at 3.45pm on the day.

1st & 3rd Year CATS

17 Oct 2024

1st and 3rd Year Students will receive the results of the Cognitive Ability Tests that they did in early September on Friday, October 18th. They students will also attend an information session on interpreting the results.

We respectfully request that you view these results with your child over the weekend.  Mr. Nyland will be happy to speak to you about your child's results by phone or in person by making an appointment. 

6th Year Examination Numbers

09 Oct 2024

6th Year students will receive their Leaving Certificate Examination numbers on Thursday, 10th October 2024.

All 6th Years should be present with their school journal to receive their number.

DARE/ RACE Testing - 6th Year

07 Oct 2024

Testing to assess eligibility for the DARE and RACE schemes (6th Year) will take place in the school on Wednesday, 9th October at 2.40pm. 

The following students should attend for testing on the day:

* Students who have been referred for support

* Students who have submitted scripts via their English teacher to Mr. Nyland for error analysis

* Students who have had an appointment with either Ms. Hannon or Mr. Nyland regarding any type of accommodations for the examinations

* Students with a psychological report that may be out of date

Students who have concerns around illness, anxiety or physical difficulties should also contact Mr. Nyland prior to the testing.

Transition Year Tour 2025

The Transition Year (TY) Tour to Paris 2025 has now been booked and finalised.
The group will travel on Friday, 7th of March 2025 and will return to Carrick-on-Shannon on Monday, 10th of March 2025.
If any other TY students wish to go on this tour, please contact Ms. Wallace as extra seats must be repriced with the Tour Company.  

Decorative Clay Mask Making Workshop

There will be a Decorative Clay Mask Making Workshop in the school on Thursday, 2nd May 2024 and Thursday, 9th May 2024 from 5pm to 7pm.

Craft Classes (Needle Felting)

Craft Classes in Needle Felting for parents/guardians of Carrick-on-Shannon Community School will begin on Monday, 4th March 2024 from 9am to 11am.

Places are limited so please contact our Home School Community Liaison Co-ordinator, Ms. Walsh, on 086 103 4228 to reserve a place by Thursday, 29th February 2024.

Leaving Certificate Polish

06 Feb 2024

Post-Primary Languages Ireland, a dedicated unit of the Department of Education, is organising an information session on the Polish Leaving Certificate specification, portfolio, and sample papers. It aims to help students and parents to become familiar with the curriculum and identify suitable supports for the study, mostly for those who do not have access to the classes in school.

The information session will take place on 27th of February 2024, at 7 p.m. and will be hosted online.
